Gate 14 · deadline 12 Mar 2026 · default KILLED

You wrote down a deadline. Nobody checked.

ShipGates reads what you already wrote, finds every commitment in it, and closes each one with a recorded verdict.

Building is cheap now. Deciding is not. A missed deadline here produces an outcome instead of nothing.

For the solo builder shipping with AI agents. 5 to 20 repos, 1 approver.

1 extraction is free. No account, no email, no card.

No account, no email, no card.

A plan, a CLAUDE.md, a launch checklist. Every line carrying a promise and a date comes back as a Gate, quoted in your own words, with the deadline and the Default filled in.

The source is read on the server, kept with the readout, and never shown to anyone else.

A ruled go / no-go checklist sheet with dial gauges, one needle past its limit.
Fig. 1Aviation practice. No line closes without a criterion, a limit and a recorded outcome.
sec 01the problem

Gates pass in silence.

A month of agent output leaves 12 half-built repos and 40 pages of plans.

Every one holds a promise your optimistic past self wrote down. Launch dates. Kill criteria. Revenue gates.

Nobody reads them again. There is 1 approver and no mechanism that forces a verdict.

So projects are not killed. They are abandoned quietly, and the open count only rises. You lose the ability to tell execution from accumulation.

sec 02the mechanism

Silence is a verdict.

You paste a source. The extraction quotes back every promise it contains, with its date and its default.

001Gate

A promise, its deadline, and the default that runs without you. Quoted from your own source.

002Default

The deadline passes with no decision. The default executes. Nothing passes unremarked, ever.

003Verdict

2 values. PASS or FAIL, with 1 line of reason. The Ledger keeps both permanently.

004Decision Queue

At most 3 gates a day. Only the calls a human can make.

005WIP Brake

Past the open limit, new gates are marked OVER LIMIT. Nothing is blocked. The cost is visible.

A single instrument dial, its needle resting past the limit mark.
sec 03the ledger

The record compounds.

Every gate that closes is written down with its date, its verdict and 1 line of reason.

After a quarter you own a dated, honest account of your own judgement. Close rate included.

sec 04the alternatives

Everything else tracks work. None of it closes a decision.

a Notion decision log

It needs the discipline it is supposed to supply. ShipGates enforces the deadline whether you show up or not.

Linear or Todoist

Deleting a task leaves no record behind. A FAIL in the Ledger does.

Beeminder or stickK

They stake money on habits. Nothing is staked here. The consequence is the record.

Motion or Sunsama

Your calendar is not the constraint. A scheduler will happily book time for a dead project.

doing nothing

Free, and the open count keeps rising. This is the real competitor.

sec 05the pass

Lifetime Pass. $99.

1 extraction is free. No account, no card and no email before the readout.

1 payment. Nothing renews, nothing expires and no card is kept on file.

Every gate has a deadline. The pass does not.
